Crisp air. Shifting light. The crunch of leaves. The captivating colors. You guessed it. It’s time to fall in love with fall all over again.
As shorter days and falling temps draw us back indoors…it’s only natural to turn your living space into a warm and cozy fall retreat.
Want to see our fall living room makeover in action? Starting with a blank slate, we stripped everything but main furniture. Piece by piece, we went from “boring brown” to a richly styled space brimming with dramatic color, natural textural, rustic warmth and autumnal charm.
Layer Heavy Textures
First, we rolled out one of our favorites: the remarkably affordable Foucher area rug. Its hand-tufted, all-wool pile is thick, plush and sumptuous underfoot. Not to mention, the trendy kilim weave with brick red, gold and ivory hues really lays the foundation for seasonal sophistication.
Relish rich hues
The rug we selected set the stage for our tone and textural theme. We ran with even more kilim patterns in the form of poufs and layered pillows in deep, earthy shades.
Romance rustic beauty
A central focus of our living room makeover: artwork reflecting fall’s woodsy sensibility. Wood panel framed canvases with fleur de lis metal emblems and a gilcée print of wild horses conveyed the majestic mood we had in mind.
Play with earthy elements
Elegant fall decorating doesn’t get any easier than this. Create a simple centerpiece with faux fall foliage in a wood dough bowl. Fill clear vessels with rye or wheat stalks, willow branches, cotton boll stems or twigs for a naturally beautiful aesthetic.
